Matthew Kibby is currently a graduate student at Syracuse University pursuing his master’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism through the Newhouse School of Public Communications. Kibby is also part of the Sports Media Communication program offered through Newhouse. Prior to Syracuse University, Kibby graduated from Adrian College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications with supporting minors in Journalism and Leadership.
While attending Adrian, Kibby was named the Student Director of Adrian College Television his sophomore year. ACTV is the campus streaming platform. Kibby oversaw the growth of the program, he did that by helping increase the staff of work study students from 10 to 40 by the end of his senior year. In his 3 years with ACTV YouTube subscribers nearly doubled with over 6,000. Kibby was also on the team that upgraded the production equipment behind ACTV’s streams. These upgrades were both physical equipment and software upgrades to create a seamless look on all broadcasts. When Kibby was not behind the scenes he was in front of the cameras as one of the voices of Adrian College Athletics. His career, thus far, is highlighted by calling the school’s first ever team NCAA Championship in 2022 with the hockey team winning the 2022 National Championship in Lake Placid, New York.
Kibby’s career goals include working for a major national network calling professional sports and being a national network lead play-by-play for the NHL and MLB. Kibby anticipates finishing his master’s degree in the summer of 2023.
